Commenting on the launch of the new Fears x Topper Edition Series II: Tribute to Northern California range, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, (4th) Managing Director of the Fears Watch Company, says, “In January 2023 I visited the Topper Jewelers store in Burlingame California to meet with Fears owners from the bay area. While there, the Caplan family kindly took me to different spots nearby to show me what winter in Northern California was really like. The warmth, hospitality, and incredible landscapes inspired this limited-edition collaboration with Topper Jewelers. As friends of Fears, we were compelled to pay tribute to the remarkable state and create another special 'Topper Edition' that captures the essence of my unforgettable experience in the United States and a visit that left an indelible mark on me.”

Graceful and complex, the curvaceous Brunswick silhouette takes its inspiration from a gentleman’s cushion case watch in the Fears archives, first made in 1924.
CASE
The Brunswick 40’s elegant yet sporty 40mm cushion-shaped case has no flat surfaces. The case’s glancing curves are machined from 316L stainless steel, to a level usually reserved for precious metals. The depth of the polish along with the hand grained finish applied to the top of the case’s corners showcase the sophistication of the machinery and the skill of the operator.
Complementing the case is our bespoke ‘onion’-shaped winding screw down crown, signed with the Fears Cypher. Screwed into the case, the crown’s fine grooves catch the light, adding a touch of radiance to the edge of the case.
Built with uprated proportions, the Brunswick 40 has 150m water resistance, allowing it to be swum in when the crown is screwed all the way in.
DIAL
The white and green gradient of this dial is created with dots that change in size and frequency as they get closer to the centre. This gives the feel of snow falling on the pine trees around Tahoe and the Palisades Tahoe ski resort that hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics which lands heaviest on the edge of the branches.
HANDS
The distinctive ‘Fears’-shaped hands are milled from solid brass with a bevel cut down the centre using a diamond tool. This results in a highly polished surface that catches the light, giving excellent legibility in low-light conditions.
These hands are painted matte-white to match the indices and then filled with X1-Grade Super-LumiNova.
MOVEMENT
The Brunswick 40 is powered by a customised Swiss-made, automatic La Joux-Perret G101 movement (that has had the date function removed). Winding itself when worn on the wrist this movement boasts a generous power reserve of 68 hours and a decorated winding rotor.
STRAP
This limited edition was offered on a beautiful Dark Brown calf leather strap, this premium leather is traditionally used for saddles and is very smooth.
Lined in genuine Alcantara® dyed a deep shade of blue, this lining is supremely soft against the skin yet resistant against wear. The strap is fitted with a stainless steel pin buckle that is subtly engraved with our ‘Fears’ logo.
Customise
You can customise your Brunswick 40 with any strap designed for a 20mm lug width, including any strap from our range, which you can easily fit yourself without tools.
INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED
Each watch we make carries a unique serial number. Engraved between the 20mm lugs at 12 o’clock, this number helps us identify your watch and its history.
AMOS BOX
All Fears watches are now presented in a slim, rectangular, wooden box made of solid ash and stained in our bespoke Fears Blue colour. This luxury box was inspired by traditional slim Fears watch boxes used in the past, in which the watch lay flat. Recognising the companies heritage, we called this box the Amos, after the 2nd and 3rd Managing Directors.
The top of the box is discretely engraved with the Fears logo and features a gentle bevel around its edges, whilst the interior is lined in genuine cream suede. The box is secured by a polished chrome push button, keeping your watch safe and secure.
With this being a Fears Limited Edition, it comes with a special outer box and sleeve that match the owners card and are unique to this collaboration.
